Windjammers Jazz Orchestra |
The WINDJAMMERS JAZZ ORCHESTRA (WJO) performs as an 18-piece big band or as a 10-piece band for the smaller venue. They both have the varied program to fit any occasion. This can be as feature entertainment of big band styles for parties, festivals, ballroom dancing, or an entire swing dance program. Our dance instructor is available to teach a class lesson prior to the band’s performance as well as conduct a mixer during any of our breaks, a great part of our program that gets the audience involved.
Whether you are dining or dancing, you can look forward to listening to the sweet and smooth satin vocal stylings of Emily Nelson Musser or the rich crooning sound of Charles King.
We also feature “special” guest celebrities (members of the band). As the audience joins a conga line, Rob Carlson appears as our South of the Border trumpet virtuoso, The Big Muchacho, playing “Cherry Pink.” Close your eyes and you can’t tell if it is Louis Prima or our own Charles King singing “Just a Gigolo”. Jim Donaldson and Rob Carlson become the Blues Brothers and sing and dance their crowd-pleasing “Gimme Some Lovin’” and “Sweet Home, Chicago.”
Voted in the top ten nationally as Best Elvis, Charles King brings the King to the stage. Opening with the 2001 Space Odyssey Theme you will begin a non-stop travel in time to when the King was King in Las Vegas. This is an impressive show you will never forget.
WJO will bring the dance floor alive with our own DJ lighting system and spin your favorite Rock-n-Roll and Disco during our breaks and mixed into our sets. The party never stops.
Standard dress for the band is black shirts and red ties. In the summer, or by request, the band sports a wild variety of our trademark Hawaiian Shirts. The band looks and sounds the part when the occasion calls for a party atmosphere.
